Invitation of Admission to the Mahavihara Dhamma-Vinaya University

The Mahavihara Dhamma-Vinaya University was founded on 12 June 2016 with the motto of orthodox elders,“Live in a traditional way but learn through a modern methodology”, with a view to producing a virtuous learned monks . The courses for the 2018-19 academic year are to be opened on 4 June 2018. The diploma entrance examination is to be held for three days from 2nd to 4th May 2018 (from the 3rd to the 5th waning days of Kason, 1380 ME).

The Qualifications of Diploma Candidates (for the 2018-19 academic year)

The candidates must –

• not be older than 30 years but with 10 vassas (rains-retreat) already attained,
• observe the Vinaya rules strictly and love the Sasana so dearly,
• be free from the physical handicaps and
• be able to stay at the hostel inside the precincts of the university.

(A) The monks who are the holders of a Dhammacariya degree conferred by a governmental university or by a religious association or by a private Pariyatti Learning-center or who are the holders of the Samane Kyaw ( Sasanalankara) degree or who are the holders of the Mahavidu degree or the successful candidates in the Pathamagyi religious examination with a thorough knowledge of the prescribed texts for the Dhammacariya course must sit for the interview as follows.

(B)The monks who are the matriculated, undergraduates and graduates can sit for the entrance examination. However, they must answer the questions on the Vinaya_- the Patimokkha and Dvematika Patimokkha with their meanings on the first day and the definitions of the Vinaya on the second day as follows.

(B)All the candidates from (A) and (B) groups must sit for the written examination (two sets of questions) for their English proficiency ( with an interview if necessary) .

The students who get eligibility to the diploma class must take two four-month semesters for Dip-in-B. Dh and then three four-month semesters for B. A(B. Dh).

Remarks: English is to be used as the medium of instruction at the diploma level and higher ones so that all the monks produced from this university will be equipped with a good command of English. The application form must be submitted by 30th April 2018.
